Friday, November 17th, 2017

November 15th, Mrs. Miller’s 21st Century Living classes did a little cooking. They made biscuits, omelets, and 5 different main dishes. Students were proud of how everything turned out and learned some valuable lessons. Such as how to cut up chicken correctly, how to get a flaky biscuit, and how to make a fluffy omelet. They all got to enjoy the end result. Delicious!

Todd Green Performs At NJHS

Thursday, October 12th, 2017

The Norfolk Arts Center provided the Junior High with some instrumental entertainment on October 11th.  Todd Green came and wowed all of us with his amazing instruments. We learned a lot about the instruments from different countries. They not only look different, they sound different, and most times you hold them differently to play them. Thank you Norfolk Arts Center for bringing Todd Green to the Junior High!

NJHS HAL Students Make Monsters

Tuesday, October 10th, 2017

HAL pic

Mrs. Gentrup’s High Ability Learners (HAL) class spent a unit learning how to individually control LEDs in an e-textile circuit while building an interactive plush creature.

They used the LilyPad series in the circuit to turn different LEDs on and off. Using the E-Sewing to connect circuits, they examined how buttons and switches behave differently to build & create a plush creature with light-up features.  The students then designed each monster with a personality.  They created a super hero, Pennywise the Clown, Donald Trump, cartoon character, lettuce,  a football player and lots more.
