Emoji Writing

Monday, October 9th, 2017

Are words the only way to communicate? Not in 3rd grade! Mrs. Mueller shared with students a project called “Emoji Writing.” Using Google Docs, third graders answered questions about themselves with emojis. Mrs. Mueller instructed students on how to find emojis and insert into a document. As a class, students brainstormed ways to use emojis: story elements, summaries, exit tickets, character traits, and mindset. Needless to say we 💜 emojis!!

Kindergarten and Their 4th Grade Reading Buddies

Monday, February 20th, 2017

Mrs. Dahlkoetter’s Kindergarten class has paired up with Mr. Anderson’s fourth graders as Buddy Readers.  The fourth graders come into the kindergarten class and read books to the kindergarteners.  This has been a great opportunity to make a connection in the school between younger and older peers but also a great introduction into reading listening to the fourth graders.  Now the kindergartens are diving into Accelerated Reading with their fourth grade buddies’ help. 100_5532 100_5533 100_5535 100_5531

In Kindergarten, we made 100 day crowns, wrote and made ourselves at 100 years old, counted 100 fruit loops and made them into necklaces with the help of Mr. Strong.  We also build structures using 100 cups, and counted to 100 by 1s and 10s.
