“Kids On The Block” Assembly At Northern Hills

Northern Hills had some special visitors from the Elks Club recently.  The “Kids On The Block” are life size puppets that talked to us about the bad effects bullying can have on our lives, in and out of school.  It is always important to treat everyone with respect.  Thank you Elks Club!!

What an exciting show the Kenyan African Acrobats put on at Westside Elementary on Monday, November 9.  The African Acrobats combined fast-paced movement, music, and dance. This thrilling performance exemplified the link between athletics and the arts featuring gymnastics, juggling, balancing, limbo, contortion, and human pyramid building.

The acrobats provided students with an entertaining and educational show before saying, “Kwaheri.”

Through a blend of performance, story, and audience participation, Peter Nestler delivers an invaluable program for students and educators. Nestler, a world-champion rope-jumper, combines jump rope and cycling skills with fun interactive audience participation. While the entertainment grabs the kids’ attention, Nestler anchors essential messages about effort, determination, and fitness. His message to kids emphasizes, “You can be a champion of anything you want. Study, read, and learn to be a champion.”

Nestler has performed all over the world. His message to Westside students stressed leading a drug-free life and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
